Let me begin by saying….most of the time MySpace seems to be a useless tool. Except tonight it showed me something different then what I am used to. Which is usually strange messages from strange guys (human, supposedly though I am not too sure, and not too sure I want to know) wanting to “get to know me” or updates from all my friends and their iphones or android thingymajiggers . Instead I got a friend request from a band called The Fantastic Harlan Jones Band.
In the “blurb” with the request it said something to the effect of…”If your into Rolling Stones…blahblahblah” well yeah of course I dig the Stones. The first song I picked was “Down This Road” which you can hear a clip of it below. You can buy “Down This Road” on iTunes & other places too! (Yes I bought it.)
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
From the first listen of this track it did remind me of Stones, but then the singing started and I instantly thought…this is like old ass Aerosmith too! NICE!. With a lot of emo, screamo “My mom sucks” bands taking over the internet these days, I have to say this was the nicest random friend request I have gotten from a band in a long time.
Thanks to HIM Supporters for pointing out this article on their blog here is a review from a pretty damn cool site called UnderTheGunReview.net. Read more below…
Artist: HIM
Album: Screamworks: Love in Theory and Practice
Genre: Goth Rock
Label: Sire
Finnish “love metal” band HIM are finally back with their 7th studio album, Screamworks: Love in Theory and Practice. The album has a due date of February 9th, 2010 here in the states, but let me tell you that it’s probably in your best interest to start preparing now as this is easily the band’s best work in quite some time.
Beginning with the near pop punk intro chords of “In Venere Veritas,” we quickly find HIM to not only be back on the scene, but with more energy than we’ve seen from them in quite awhile. Ville Valo comes across early as Matt Skiba did during the Good Mourning years of Alk Trio with his emotion-drained vocals and borderline graphic storytelling that is only amplified by the near perfected instrumentation of tracks like the late 80’s goth rock jam “Scared to Death” or the much progressive [and lead single], “Heartkiller.” The band swings in and out of rock subgenres with flawless progression that truly displays just how versatile they’ve become over the past 7 albums.
My friend Chris is bad ass…and I admire that he is such a creative entity in my life. So I am letting you all know about his one man wonder band called The Jesus Christ Circle Jerk. The music he creates is called Doomgaze…and if you take a listen you might understand just why. Now it might not be exactly what I think RAWKS, but it’s the creativity behind it that I dig and can definitely stand behind and spread the word about. Hey guys it’s me again! Lately I have helped out two bands so far with their online EPK (Electronic Press Kits) (Cyanide Vogue & [HELL INC.]) and I had made a template for both of them using Dreamweaver. Since then I have decided that it would be a good idea to offer it up to people to use also. So here it is for all you people that might need it. It’s FREE! And I know everyone loves free.
You should use Dreamweaver and know a little something about HTML to edit this template. And maybe even some graphic editing skills. If you need help with the site you can email me via the address in the PDF file or leave a comment here. I might not be able to help everyone due to time constraints and my schedule, but I will try. This template is free to use.
If you need in depth help. I can do that too, but it will cost ya! Contact me personally if that is the case. I accept paypal.

Again I won’t be able to help everyone due to time constraints. You should know HTML and how to upload to a website, if not search on google…seriously I learn something new every time I search on that! Remember to please leave my sponsor link on the bottom of the site if you use it. That is all I ask.
PROMOTING YOURSELF
Also a friend of mine Derek Sivers (founder of CD Baby) has a great PDF file you should read if you REALLY want to promote your band. Check it out at his site: http://sivers.org/pdf I always send it out to musician friends of mine that I find. And it really RAWKS!
I’ve known about this band Iconcrash for quite a few years now. And the new single “Everlasting” is pretty damn good so I thought it was about time that I blogged about this band and spread some love about them. You can check out their Official Website – MySpace – Facebook Group (more links on their Official Website). Check out the new video for “Everlasting” and if you dig it. Spread the word too!
