A Healthy Kitchen – Good Stuff!

I spend a lot of my time going around the net looking for cool things. And I don’t remember how I stumbled upon this ladies website AHealthyKitchen.com but I did. And I looked over her blog and thought to myself…Oooh it’s a foody blog. Interesting. But really, why did I think it was interesting?

Well let me tell ya, I have been finding lately that I love to cook. A lot of the times in the past you would see me cringe at my stove and run off for the closest Mexican drive-thru to get a carne asada burrito and call it a night (or hell even day). Tonight I cooked a great meal, it was honey-bbq chicken with peanuts, chives, white onions, broccoli over a bowl of rice. Simple and yummy. Something I wouldn’t have done even a few months ago. I was literally scared of my kitchen. Afraid that I would burn food, or not be a good enough cook. But then I started to and really enjoy it. Finding this site I can now add it to my collection of places to look for ideas.

AHealthyKitchen.comEnough about my history back to my main topic. AHealthyKitchen.com has great recipes which I will have to get into in a moment. But what REALLY made me want to blog about it was the about page where Lesli told her story of how she lost 150 lbs not just once but TWICE! Reading her story almost made me cry, and I am not joking. She seems to be an amazing open individual. She has some really inspiring words in her blog. Like this phrase really got to me.

Stop hating yourself. You don’t deserve it. God does’nt create “no junk”! Your fat, and all the experiences you’ve had because of it, has created the person you are today. I’ll bet you’re compassionate and loving. You love everyone else far more than you love yourself, am I right? Well knock it off!
[Quote from About page @ AHealthyKitchen.com]

The quote above is true, well for me. I personally don’t think I have every fully grasped that love within myself. Sure I might have touched upon that feeling a few times in my life. And I think it’s time I work on that a lot more. Well that is how I feel after going through this website.

Ah and the recipes are really great sounding. One I really want to try cause I am a smoothie FREAK! Check out this article by clicking on the picture.

Now to run to the store one of these days and get this stuff and a good enough blender/smoothie maker thingy.

In the end what I am wanting is to have people read the about page! And hopefully they find something good to take with them. Who knows. But it’s awe inspiring to me. I mean this lady has been through a slice of hell and a half and still she’s going on. Makes me think if she can do it, well so can I! Just hopefully without the hell she went through. I applaud her efforts and want to tell the world about it.

I normally don’t tell you I told you so, so I won’t. I’ll just smack you up-side the head. With a bat. With a chicken breast nailed to it.

Awww Chris I love you too man LOL (My friends RULE) but a chicken breast? Well I guess I should be happy to have some “cushioning” against the bat of doom.

Heh oh wait your gonna attack me with chicken on a stick….RAD! I’ll bring the BBQ sauce!

  2. WOW Carrie! I’m so honored to have you write such a beautiful piece about me and my story! When I decided to open up about my journey on http://aHealthyKitchen.com , I was nervous … not sure how my life and my many mistakes would be perceived (judged). Then I decided “what the hell”, it’s my story. Some will relate. Some won’t. But if I can help one other woman know her journey, whatever it’s been thus far, is okay and that there’s “gold in them thar hills”, then it would be worth it. Life is about where we’ve been, where we are, and where we’re going. A journey to be sure … and it aint over til it’s over!

Thank you for your kindness. I’m happy to be a part of your journey now, and by golly girl, you deserve the lovin’!

Btw, is it too late to get in on that chicken/bat action? It sounds kinda fun :)
